The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Yes, We’re Talking About You, Nike)
What. A. Finish. Rory McIlroy finally completed the career Grand Slam, becoming only the sixth player in golf history to claim all four majors. It took him twelve long, pressure-cooked years to snag this elusive title, but at 35, he’s not done yet. With the monkey off his back, we may finally be entering the “McIlroy Renaissance” era. And he didn’t just limp into the winner’s circle—he birdied the first playoff hole to seal the deal in style. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for his outfit.

The Good
Let’s kick it off on a high note—Rory’s golf game. Yes, he sprayed a few wedges like he was auditioning for the Weekend Warrior club championship (seriously, 125 yards out on 18 and he dumps it into a bunker?), but when the pressure mounted, the man delivered. That mid-iron game? Chef’s kiss. And that final birdie? Legendary.
Justin Rose also deserves a massive shoutout for going full spring bloom in a salmon pastel top and firing a Sunday 66 to force that playoff. A clean, classic look with a game to match. Rosey, you didn’t win the jacket, but you won hearts—and the Best Dressed honors for Sunday.

Hideki Matsuyama gets an honorable mention with a crisp yellow top, navy vest, and matching pants. Augusta sharp. Hideki, we still remember your champion’s dinner—and your style remains just as memorable.
And can we talk about Jason Day? Malbon finally figured it out. This year’s Masters fit was elevated and seasonal, a nice evolution from last year’s wild experiments. He may not have been in the final group, but he looked like he belonged in the clubhouse sipping champagne.
The Bad
Bryson DeChambeau, you made it to Sunday with your short game dragging the rest of your bag behind it, but why did you and Rory have to twin? White pants, blue top, green bag? It’s giving “corporate scramble with matching staff bags.” We could not tell who we were looking at. And, Aberg, quite frankly was dressed the same. And Bryson’s irons? Still lost somewhere between physics and chaos theory.

Oh, and let’s address the sea of blah. Navy and white everywhere. Navy top, white pants. White top, navy pants. Did we miss a memo or something? Navy and white for the Masters? The Augusta crowd didn’t know if they were watching players or a fleet of stylish caddies. Scheffler and Fleetwood—we’re looking at you. At one point, I wasn’t sure who was about to putt, the golfer or his ghostly twin in coveralls.
Ludvig Aberg finally figured out the dress code—blue shirt, white pants, and finally a matching hat (thank you, Adidas). But come on, it took until Sunday? And, really? Same attire as Rory and Bryson. Maybe the hats were different. Differentiate, people. Differentiate.
The Ugly
And here we go: Nike. What happened to you? Once the kings of major-week fashion, you now seem content mailing it in. This week was a parade of charcoal, navy, and washed-out silhouettes. The only thing bold? Those weird red-bottomed, pink-topped shoes that were clearly inspired by Christian Louboutin. Golf shoes should not look like runway mishaps. Yammy and Norse Goddess are officially confused.
Nike, we say this with love: it’s time to either reinvent or retreat. Your athletes are too good to be dressed like they wandered into a clearance rack.
Also in the “questionable choices” department—Augusta National, what was that pin placement on 16? A nostalgic nod to Nicklaus in ’86? Cute in theory, but why mess with one of the most iconic Sunday pins in golf? We wanted drama, not confusion.
Final Thoughts
And with that, Augusta closes its gates once more. Rory’s finally got his full set of major keys, Rosey reminded us what classy golf looks like, and Nike reminded us why we no longer get excited for their press drops.
Yamashita and the Norse Goddess will now return to their natural habitat: lounging stylishly, judging harshly, and plotting revenge against white-on-white outfit offenders. But don’t worry darlings—we’ll be back, cocktails in hand and commentary locked and loaded for the next weekend, where the PGA- and LPGA’s fashion sins will again be laid bare under our glittering microscope.
See you next time—whether it’s the PGA, LPGA, or anything in between. Because birdies are great, but bold fashion is better. Bring the Banter.
Sleeves will rise, collars will pop, and someone will definitely wear something they shouldn’t.
Stay fashionable, stay ruthless. Bring the Banter
