SATURDAY AT THE 2025 MASTERS

🌸 Saturday at Augusta 2025 — Moving Day & Missed Opportunities

Well sports fans, the sun is shining, the azaleas are popping like confetti, and it is officially Moving Day at Augusta. Yammy and the Norse Goddess have been sipping saké and soaking up every birdie, bogey, and baffling wardrobe choice from the shade of the magnolia trees.

Let’s start with the heartbreak: some big names packed their Sunday best and headed home early. Most notably Brooks “Kupcakes” Koepka, who went from a hopeful +1 to a disastrous +5 after making an eight—yes, a snowman—on the 18th. Oof. Add Keegan, DJ, Finau, and Straka to the cut casualty list. We mourn their fashion contributions—or lack thereof—and send them off with a polite golf clap.

But the stars still shining? Blazing. Rory came out of the gates like a man possessed, opening with six straight 3s—a Masters record! And yet, as explosive as that was, the field remains tight. DeChambeau, Rose, Day, Scheffler, Conners, and Lowry are all within striking distance. Sunday promises fireworks… let’s just hope some of those fireworks end up in the wardrobe department.

👕 Saturday’s Style Sheet: Not Quite Sunday Best

Let’s not sugarcoat it—once again, the Nike crew continues to disappoint. A sea of solids, uninspired tones, and red-bottomed shoes that scream more “fire drill” than “fashion statement.” Scottie Scheffler, Rory, and Fleetwood are clearly caught in a time loop where navy blue is king and variety is treason. Tiger used to make Nike a must-watch at majors; now it’s just… meh.

DeChambeau deserves a little nod today—he finally matched his colors and gave us a solid, clean look that didn’t involve a Crayola explosion. Bravo, Bryson, that’s progress.   But….

Rory and Bryson showed up in nearly identical fits—blue pants, white shirts, the whole “country club twins at brunch” vibe. Looked like they got dressed in the same locker room. They’ll be paired together on Sunday, so let’s hope someone changes—because fashion faux pas #1 is twinning on TV during the biggest day of the year.

.

Viktor Hovland, however… what exactly were we going for here? Blue pants, red-and-mismatched-blue top, and a look that said “I dressed in the car.”

And Aberg, I’m begging you—put the rogue hats down. You had us yesterday with those Augusta-green slacks and the matchy-matchy logo, but then veered straight into ‘farmhand chic.’ Honestly, that green cap looked like you were either headed to plow the back 40 or filling in for the caddie who called in sick. If you’re going to throw off the color palette like that, you better bring neon or next-level swagger to distract us. As it stood, all we got was confusion—and a sudden craving for fresh hay.

Overall, the field was a wash of blue, white, and gray pants paired with solid tops—a safe, conservative choice for Augusta but lacking the style spark we crave on a Saturday. A few faint glimmers emerged: Jon Rahm, while not lighting up the scoreboard, did deliver a more spring-inspired outfit. Maybe someone finally slipped him a pastel swatch booklet.

🟢 The Green Jacket Dilemma

With a leaderboard full of heavy hitters, Sunday is shaping up to be prime real estate for both drama and drip. And here’s the big question: who’s dressing for the green jacket? Because if Yamashita were anywhere near that leaderboard, his outfit would already be chosen, tailored, and coordinated to make that emerald masterpiece pop on the Butler Cabin broadcast.

It’s not just about winning—it’s about winning in style.

So here we are. Rory leads by two after Bryson’s birdie on 18, but there are a dozen others who could shake things up. If someone goes low early, Augusta’s back nine could turn into a high-fashion, high-stakes runway that ends with one champion, one jacket, and hopefully—finally—an outfit worth remembering.

Until then, we wait. We judge. We sip. And we manifest fashion greatness.
