Saturday at the U.S. Open – Finally, Some Flair! (And a Few Flops)
At long last, Saturday brought us style worth shouting about! Yammie here, sake chilled, with the Norse Goddess perched like a Valkyrie judge of golf fashion. After two days of golf-channel gray and style déjà vu, someone finally opened the closet and let some boldness out.

First place on the fairway runway? Xander Schauffele. White pants—always risky on a course with bunkers, beer and a chance of showers—but perfectly executed. The real showstopper? That geometric pink-and-white shirt, a masterclass in spring chic. The man looked like a walking ad for tasteful modern golf fashion, and every accessory from belt to hat to shoes said, “Yes, I meant to look this good.” Xander, we bow.

And—sound the wardrobe alarm—Scottie Scheffler wore red. Yes, red! For a man who normally rotates through the “meh” side of the color wheel, this was a revelation. The bonus? Nike’s polarizing pink kicks with the red Louboutin-esque soles actually worked for once. The Norse Goddess is still shaking her head, but even she admitted: “It was coordinated chaos, and I kind of loved it.”
JJ Spaun has been playing well and looking good all weekend. Tied for second and dressed for the occasion, he wore a crisp white and blue shirt with a subtle pop of red at the collar. It was patriotic without screaming “Fourth of July barbecue,” and clean without being boring. So far, JJ wins the weekend on the fashion front. Let’s see if he can carry the momentum into Sunday—style and scorecard alike.
But oh, we must balance the love with a little necessary shame…

Jon Rahm—wearing the exact same pink pants and blue-and-white floral shirt he wore at the PGA Championship. Déjà vu or just laundry day, Jon? At this point we have to ask: is this an homage, a superstition, or just a serious shortage of wardrobe options? Someone get this man a stylist—or a second shirt.
And Jason Day, our favorite Aussie enigma—what on earth were those elastic cuff pants? Sir, are you teeing off at Oakmont or heading to SoulCycle? Golf is an athletic sport, yes, but that look screamed “forgot leg day” more than “major championship contender.”
Until Tomorrow-
Yammie and Norse
